Maria G. Tiomico, MD, FAAFP
Board Certified in Family Medicine
A graduate from the University of Florida in 1996, Dr. Tiomico has been recognized as one of North Florida's "Top Docs". Jacksonville Magazine has recognized her with this honor from 2007 through 2010. As a resident within the University of Florida, she was honored as the top Family Practice Resident between 1994-1996. As a board certified physician since 1996, she has been awarded fellowship in Family Practice by the American Academy of Family Physicians in 2008.
Throughout the years, she has been a prominent figure within Jacksonville providing patient services for the Jacksonville Cluster Home, University of Florida Family Practice facilities, and Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. She has expanded her responsibilities as an independent contractor for Medicare, Part A for the Western division of the United States providing services for the appropriate utilization of Medicare benefits. Dr. Tiomico continues to engage in life's goals in collaborating with Jacksonville's elite physicians in accomplishing improved disease outcomes within new age medicine.
A specialist in Family Medicine, she has incorporated both Eastern and Western medicine philosophies within her practice to improve overall health and offer alternatives to improve the quality of a healthier life.
Within her practice are BioHRT, Nerve conduction studies, and peripheral arterial disease equipment to assist in prompt diagnosis of life threatening conditions. As a patient advocate, she continues to actively pursue better health initiatives to improve care for the people of Northeast Florida. Through her dedication and achievements, the Jacksonville Business Journal identified her as a "Healthcare Hero" in 2008.
Shalaka Ghate, MD
Family Medicine
Dr. Shalaka Ghate joined Tiomico Family Medicine in 2008 and oversees the healthcare needs for all ages including health promotion, disease prevention, health maintenance with well child visits, adult physicals (including pap smears and pelvic exams), counseling, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses like hypertension, diabetes etc. She has completed her Family Medicine residency training from St Vincent's Medical Center, right here in Jacksonville. Being a primary care physician, she knows she is often the first point of consultation for all your health concerns. So she places a strong emphasis of good communication and educating patients to better understand their own health condition. She was recognized as being one of America's Top Family Doctor's for 2010.
